Ecoshift: meeting cocoa producers in Thailand

Summer 2024 was intense for Linda, who leads the Ecoshift project within the UNYRA ecosystem. Destination: Thailand, to meet small cocoa producers on a mission as ambitious as it is inspiring.

Ecoshift's Mission

Ecoshift is a project that connects small-scale eco-responsible producers with manufacturers seeking sustainable sourcing. In a world where supply chains are often opaque and dominated by intermediaries, Ecoshift offers a more direct, transparent and fair model.

Cocoa is the first sector targeted by the project, with the ambition of offering chocolate makers cocoa beans produced with respect for the environment and the producers.

A Journey Across Thailand

Linda traveled across Thailand for several weeks, meeting small cocoa producers spread across different regions of the country. Her goal: identifying production partners who share Ecoshift's values of quality, environmental respect and fair working conditions.

This fieldwork is essential. Behind every cocoa bean, there is a producer, a family, a territory. Ecoshift doesn't just source raw materials: the project builds lasting relationships with producing communities.

Impact Beyond Cocoa

Ecoshift perfectly illustrates the diversity of projects supported by UNYRA. From healthcare AI to eco-responsible cocoa sourcing, the common thread remains the same: making a concrete positive impact by putting technology and people in service of a more sustainable world.
